The World Women’s Snooker (WWS) Tour continues from this Friday with the sixth staging of the Belgian Women’s Open at the Trickshot in Bruges, Belgium.
Won for a second time by Reanne Evans a year ago, the event will see a high-quality field which will include seven of the world’s top nine ranked players, including former champions Mink Nutcharut and OnYee Ng, as well as the in-form Bai Yulu who became only the 13th ever world number one ranked player following her fourth ranking title success of the season last month in Sofia.
Alongside the main competition, there will be Under-21 and Seniors side-tournaments staged, as well as a Challenge Cup on Sunday for players already knocked out of the main competition.
Format
The format will be as follows:
- The top three seeded players have been seeded through to the last 16 stage on Saturday 7 February
- The remaining players have been drawn in six groups of a maximum of four players
- The top two players from each group will progress to the knockout stage, as well as the best third placed player
- All qualifiers from the group stages will be positioned in the knockout draw according to group stage performance in line with our established qualifying criteria
Group matches will be played over the best of three frames, knockout rounds to be 5/5/7/7.
The Challenge Cup tournament will be played in accordance with the 6-Red rules.
