China’s Xia Yu Ying caused a sensation at the 2025 World Women’s Championship as she reached the semi-final stage on just her second appearance on the WWS Tour.
A year on from her debut at the event, Xia qualified from her group in second place before scoring wins against Charlene Chai, 12-time world champion Reanne Evans and Amee Kamani to reach the last four stage.
Though she lost out 5-0 to compatriot Bai Yulu, her run was enough to see her climb into the world’s top 32 for the first time in her career.
