Tournament information for this weekend’s Scottish Women’s Open is now available:

The fourth World Women’s Snooker (WWS) ranking tournament of the season sees the Tour head to Scotland for the first time in almost 20 years and to The Q Club in Glasgow, a historic venue which has welcomed all of Scotland’s great players through its doors during its 41-year history.

With a incredible entry of 41 players representing the largest field for a WWS ranking event since the 2000 Connie Gough Trophy, the tournament is set to welcome 11 of the world’s top 12 for what is set to be a high-quality weekend of snooker.

Alongside the familiar faces will also be no fewer than seven players who will be new to the world ranking list, including six Scots who will join currently ranked Sophie Nix and Deborah Fladgate in competing on home soil.

There will also be side-tournaments held for our Under-21 and Seniors players, representing the second tournament of the season within each of those categories.

Format

This weekend’s format will be as follows:

  • The top five ranked players have been seeded through to the last 16 stage on Sunday morning
  • The remaining 36 players have been drawn in nine groups of a maximum of four players
  • The top two players from each group will progress to the knockout stage
    • The best four group winners will progress straight to the last 16
    • The remaining 14 players will play a preliminary round match on Saturday evening for the final seven places
  • All qualifiers from the group stages will be positioned in the knockout draw according to group stage performance in line with our established qualifying criteria

Group matches will be played over the best of three frames, knockout rounds to be 5/5/5/7/7. If necessary the preliminary round matches may be shortened to 3 frames.

The format for all side-tournaments will be straight knockout.
