The World Women’s Snooker Tour (WWS) will head to Ireland for the first time next season with the staging of the inaugural Irish Women’s Snooker Open from 28-30 November 2025.

Organised by WWS in partnership with Snooker & Billiards Ireland (SBI) and supported by Sport Ireland, the event will be held at the SBI HQ in Carlow, the official national snooker academy of Ireland.

The world ranking event will be open to players of all ages, nationalities and levels of experience, with a range of international names set to be joined by players from Ireland for what is a groundbreaking event on the Emerald Isle.

Alongside the main competition, there will also be side-tournaments held for Under-21 and Seniors (over-40s) players, with a Challenge Cup also run on the final day for players already knocked out of the tournament.

Founded in 1981, World Women’s Snooker has provided opportunities for female players to play our snooker competitively for over four decades and this landmark first event in Ireland represents another significant step in the development of the Tour.

Mandy Fisher, WWS President said: “I am delighted by today’s announcement of our first ever ranking event in Ireland next season.

“For many years we have welcomed some fantastic players to the Tour from Ireland, and I am hugely excited to have the opportunity to meet more players, whether they have competed before or are taking their first steps onto our Tour.

“I would like to thank our partners at SBI and Sport Ireland for their support which has helped to make this event possible, and I have no doubt that it will be a success.”

Dylan Rees, SBI Board Member said: “For Ireland to be able to host an official World Women’s Snooker Tour ranking event is a major step forward for the development of women’s snooker in Ireland.

“It will be an honour to welcome the world’s best female players to compete on Irish soil and to provide this great inspiration to our own players here in Ireland can only help to encourage more women and girls to play our sport here.

“A huge thank you to Sport Ireland for their backing of this event and the great support that they continue to provide our sport at all levels.”

Further information, including how to enter and the full entry pack, will follow in due course.
