Thailand’s top female player Nutcharut Wongharuthai won five matches at Q Tour Event Three to reach the quarter-finals.

Wongharuthai, ranked women’s world number three, knocked out former professionals Billy Castle and Daniel Wells at the event in Leicester, as well as Connor Benzey, Jack Bradford and Matthew Simpson.

Her win over Castle was particularly impressive as she came from 2-0 down to take the last three frames with a top break of 82. During the day she also made breaks of 73, 60, 71 and 77.

On Sunday she will face Ben Mertens in the quarter-finals. Follow the scores here.

The new Q Tour is a series of four events, and at the end of the season, two players will graduate to the World Snooker Tour.

Wongharuthai, age 22, won her second women’s ranking title earlier this month when she beat Reanne Evans 4-3 in the final of the British Open.

In 2019 she became the first female player to make a verified 147, during a practice match in Thailand.
